About the event
CROWN & THREAD
is a dual solo exhibition that explores how Black women use hair and clothing as vessels of memory, protection, and self-definition. Featuring the visual and tactile practices of Inile Hlongwane and Nthabiseng Huma, the exhibition unpacks the deeply personal—and often political—rituals of adornment and identity.
Presented during Women’s Month as part of First Thursdays On Loveday, the exhibition invites viewers into an immersive conversation about how we wear who we are: how our crowns (hair) and our threads (clothing) serve as both expressions of power and shields against a world that too often misreads or overlooks.
